Moving Update/Friday Volunteers

The Rockets have landed at their new launch pad!

All volunteers will report Friday at the new Riverview.  All volunteers must be signed up on the Sign-Up Genius if you plan to volunteer.  Please do not just show up as there is a limit to how many volunteers can be in the building.  We have found out during this move that things can change quickly based on how the moving process is going, so we many end up needing more or less volunteers than are signed up at a time.  Please check your email for volunteer updates.

Childcare is now available at Orchard Park Elementary from 10-4 on Friday provided by the Fort Mill High School Teacher Cadets.  Please indicate when you sign up if you need childcare.

Move Update-Thursday Volunteers

The RVES teachers are almost 100% packed and ready to move-in to their new launch pad, but there is still a lot of other packing to do around the school! Movers arrived at 3:00 today and started transporting boxes to the new building. We are already ahead of schedule by half a day! It’s possible that we may be needed at the New RVES by the afternoon. We value your volunteer time, but it is very difficult to predict when we are needed and for what tasks. There may be lulls during the day, so be prepared to be flexible.

A decision is going to made by 10:00am about whether the teachers can begin unpacking at the New RVES. They have been asked to report to the Old RVES in the morning and wait for a green light to move to the New RVES. At that time we can let you know to report to the new building or just go do some Christmas shopping! We value your time and flexibility. This is a huge undertaking with frequently changing variables.

Moving Help Thurs.-Friday

The move to our new Launch Pad is here!  We need help at the old school on the  18th.  It has been confirmed by administration that volunteers can help at the NEW RVES on FRIDAY the 19th!  If you can spare a couple of hours to help the teachers would really appreciate it.

On Thursday and Friday free child care for kids age 4-5th grade will be provided by Fort Mill High Teacher Cadets at Orchard Park Elementary from 9:00-5:00.

An adult will be present at all times with the kids and cadets. When you sign up, please indicate in the comments if you need child care and for how many kids.  We also need adult childcare supervisor volunteers, who are free to bring their own younger children.  No children will be allowed in the old or new RVES during the move.

Don’t Forget SchoolMall for Holiday Gifts

It’s not too late to support RVES by purchasing holiday gifts through SchoolMall.com. Over 200 national online merchants including Target, Kohl’s, Melissa & Doug Toys, Gap, Walmart and Old Navy are giving 5-10 percent, and sometimes up to 50 percent, of sales from SchoolMall.com back to participating schools. Gift cards for teachers are also for sale.

RVES families and friends have raised almost $2,000 through SchoolMall this fall, and we encourage you to continue using the site during the entire school year.
